
Entrusted with the responsibility of inculcating the “Fitness lifestyle” among the students, as well as in the community, the Physical Education department in the college was formed in 1984. Since the day of its inception, incessant efforts are being made to see that students are being made aware of the overall development of their lifestyle, personality and health, and social responsibility. Our college has adequate facilities for sports and games. The college has the best university women's team for Kho-Kho, Powerlifting, Yoga and Tug of War. Apart from these our college has won medals in Fencing, Judo, Athletics & Armwrestling. The college has successfully churned out International, National, Inter-University, State, and University level medal winners in various sports disciplines.

Yoga and Mindfulness
From August 10th to 12th, 2022, the Department of Physical Education at Morning Star Home Science College in Angamaly organized a skill enhancement program on Yoga and Mindfulness Training for college students. Led by Ms. Anjaly Jose, an experienced NSQF Level 4 Yoga Instructor and All Inter-University Yoga Player, the program encompassed both theoretical and practical sessions held at the Yoga Hall in the Nazareth Block. With a focus on fundamental asanas (yoga poses) and pranayama (breathing exercises), the training aimed to equip students with essential yoga skills and foster a sense of mindfulness. A total of 50 students actively participated in this three-day program, benefiting from the invaluable knowledge and practical experience gained, which would aid in improving their physical and mental well-being.

Say No! to Drugs
On February 17th, 2023, a friendly Tug of War competition was organized at Morning Star Home Science College, Angamaly, in association with the Department of Physical Education and Madhyamam newspaper. The event aimed to promote the slogan "SAY NO TO DRUGS, YES TO HEALTH" and raise awareness against drug abuse. The competition was inaugurated by MLA Mr. Anwar Sadath, and the Principal of the College, Tug of War Association office bearers, and media representatives spoke against drugs. In this friendly match, Morning Star College emerged victorious by defeating Sree Sankara College, Kalady, securing the first position. The campaign emphasized the importance of sports as a healthy addiction to foster a strong mind and body, promoting sports training and competitions as an alternative to drug abuse.

On July 9th, 2022, the Department of Physical Education at Morning Star Home Science College organized the Ernakulam District Senior Men, Women & Mixed Tug of War Championship 2022-23 at the college ground. The tournament was inaugurated by Anwar Sadath MLA. Approximately 12 teams from various colleges, schools, and clubs participated in the tournament.

Tug of War University Competition- Mahatma Gandhi University Men & Women Tug of War competition was held at Morning Star College on December 16 & 17, 2022. About 380 athletes from various colleges under the University participated in the two-day competition. In the women's category Morning Star College came first, Pavanatma College, Murickassery came second, Newman College Thodupuzha came third and Sree Sankara Vidyapeetom college, Valayanchirangara came fourth. In the men's category, Pavanatma College, Murickassery came first, Newman College Thodupuzha came second, Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha came third and St. Dominic's College Kanjirappally came fourth

International Yoga Day 2022 was commemorated by students practicing the asanas on the multi-purpose court.

The multipurpose court was constructed for students to practice netball,kho-kho and badminton . Inauguration ceremony was done by MLA Anwar Sadath . Our open gym was constructed with the aim of improving the general health of students and the public . The formal inauguration was done by Mr. Kunjumon , Nedumbassery panchayath president .

Annual Sports Day and Inter Department Games
The Annual Sports Day was held on 7th February 2020 with events for both staff and students. Dr. Sr. Rosily A.V, Principal Morning Star Home Science College, Angamaly declared the meet open. March Past and Mass Display competitions were conducted. The Overall championship in athletics was won by the Dept. of Commerce; the position of first runners up was secured by the Dept. of Economics and the second runners up was the Department of Home Science. The Department of physical education also organized inter-department Chess, Badminton, Table-tennis, Armwrestling, Caroms and yoga tournaments.
International Workshop
International Workshop on Fitness and Zumba was organized by department of physical education on 09/01/2020. Ms.Vaishnavi G Mohan from Qatar and Zin Kavitha were the Resource persons for the same. 160 participants were attended the one day International workshop held at Morning Star college auditorium.
National Sports Day
National sports day celebrated on August 29th, 2019. Department of physical education conducted a talk “boost up and play morning stars” at Morning Star College Seminar hall on 2:30 pm. The resource person for the function was Dr. Stalin Raphel, HOD, Assistant Professor St.Joseph College, Irinjalakuda, Thirssur.
Sports Award Day
Department of Physical Education conducted sports award day, for honoring National, Inter University, State and Inter Collegiate medal winners who made the college proud through their consent and self – less hard work. PTA sponsored cash prize of Rs. 2000/- and trophy for National and Inter University players and others received trophy. Mr. Midhun Wilwet, Santhosh Trophy football player was the guest of honor and Smt. Gracy teacher, Angamaly Municipality Chairperson was the felicitator in the occasion. Ms. Pauline Joseph, Former HOD of physical education sponsored 1000/- cash award for best Yoga performer .

Ernakulum district sub junior, junior and senior (men and women) Kho-Kho championship conducted in connection with Golden Jubilee celebrations, on 26 and 27 August 2017. Sri Saji Vargehese, Vice Chairman of Angamaly municipality, was the Chief Guest. Dr.Sr.Roseily.A.V, Principal of Morning Star Home Science College, Angamaly, Mr. C. Sanjay Kumar Secretary of District Kho-Kho Association, Ernakulum district, Ms.Mettilda Thomas, Faculty, Dept. Physical Education, were the guests of honor. The meet commenced with handing over the college flag to the college team captain Smt. Dona Chacko by the Chief Guest, accompanied by the Principal of the college. After the oath taking ceremony, the guest declared the meet as open. 40 teams participated in the two-day championship in different category. And Morning Star Home Science College, Angamaly secured Runner up in senior women Kho-Kho championship. Four students secured state level selection And K.S Sandra, Sreepriya. K.S, Dona Chacko and Arathy Anand participated in All Kerala senior Kho-Kho championship held at Palakkad on September -15 &16 -2017.

COME LET'S PLAY
The Scheme, named as ‘Come let’s play ’, was initiated in 2017. The scheme has its primary focus on students of nearby locality to participate in sports and games. The scheme aims to provide an opportunity for the youth of local communities and sports enthusiasts to get trained under coaches of Morning Star College , the scheme induces yet another pool of talented sports persons from where meritorious persons will be admitted to Morning Star Home Science College team . The trainees are provided playing arenas/non-consumable equipment’s like court; mats, etc. are also provided by Morning Star. Trainees are, however, required to bring sports dress and playing kit. Training will be in morning, evening and special coaching in Saturdays.
