Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India strives to promote resilient rural India through Higher Education interventions. As required for taking the mission of building entrepreneurship among students of our Institution, a cell on Rural Entrepreneurship Development has been constituted. Our Institution has been recognized as a Member of the National Rural Entrepreneurship Mission by MGNCRE.
Institution Innovation Council (IIC) an Initiative of MHRD for selected Higher Education Institutes. Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India has established 'MHRD's Innovation Cell (MIC)' to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). Many activities like mentoring, orientation sessions and interactive sessions on entrepreneurship, incubation, and start-up are carried out in collaboration with various departments and clubs of the college. All the innovative practices of the college are monitored by the President, MS. Shiny K. Ittichan, and co-ordinator Dr. Teji K. T. After the establishment of IIC, the activities of Rural Entrepreneurship Development Cell (RED Cell) and Star Entrepreneurship Cell were brought under the ambit of IIC.
According to the instruction of M.G. University, Rural Entrepreneurship Development Cell was officially formed on 17th August 2020. This cell mainly aimed to encourage young student entrepreneurs as well as rural women empowerment. Under this cell, various activities are organized like interaction with successful entrepreneurs, poster presentation on Mastering Entrepreneurship, and honoring young entrepreneurs of the college.
The college also has a Star Entrepreneurship Cell in association with Kerala Sarvodhaya Sangh, Trivandrum. Under this, various innovative products like Star Nutmeg Jam, Star Nutmeg Squash, Starfish feed, Star hair oil, and Star cloth bags are made and marketed.
